I’m looking forward to attending the IABC Leadership Institute in Austin this week while connecting with chapter leaders from around the world, meeting old friends and creating new links with others. You can track the discussions on social media: #IABCLI, #WeLeadIABC, #IABC50 or @iabcsandiego.
You read that right – #IABC50. Yes, IABC is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a year’s worth of planned celebrations. Our global group of passionate individuals linked by a common purpose – to identify, share and apply the world’s best communication practices. Join us for the future of IABC: “to prepare communication professionals for what’s ahead, not just to survive the changes ahead, but to thrive and grow.”
With the highly charged 2020 election season upon us, as communicators how do we manage political chatter in the workplace? Mark your calendars now for the April 8th Special Interest Group (SIG) Meet Up with its timely topic, “Political Discussions in the Workplace.” I’m sure each of you have some stories and lessons learned to share on how we can effectively communicate in the work place, through the months leading up to the election and beyond.
And finally, please nominate yourself or a fellow communicator for our 7th Annual Communicator of the Year (COTY) and Junior COTY Awards. This is another way in which we can connect with and recognize our local communication leaders. We are accepting nominations from now through March 13th.
May you shine brilliantly in 2020!
