Marching On! 50 Years and More
Since IABC‘s start in 1970, the world of communications has experienced quite a few changes. Back then, there was no internet, no cell phone and no email. (Not to date myself, but I remember when our company introduced email for HR. Talk about overcoming employee objections to change!) And computers? Definitely not. Print was king and the only avenue for business communications.
Fast forward to today. It’s 2020 and we’ve experienced the biggest innovations in communication – computers, smart phones, social media and more. We can instantly reach anyone – without regard to departments, physical locations, time zones, companies or even countries. Today, we each hold a communication platform in the palm of our hands.
What future innovations will impact the field of communications? Who knows?
The one thing I do know that remains constant throughout time – our unwavering passion to deliver strong, coherent and on-point messages that inform and even move our audiences to action. Together we look forward to celebrating IABC‘s 50th anniversary throughout the year, with a social media campaign and future events.
IABC is one of the strongest advocates for the value we add as professional, business communicators. As we deal with the COVID-19 pandemic in our communities and the workplace, we need to stay abreast of organizational policies, executive messaging and employee engagement. Sharing best practices and learning from each other is critical while dealing with this humanitarian crisis. Please check out the latest resources from IABC on this topic and take care of your families and yourselves.
President, IABC/San Diego
WHAT IABC MEANS TO YOU?
NAVIGATING THROUGH THE COVID-19 STORM
Stock markets have crashed, borders are closing, and it appears the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak will continue to get worse before it gets better. The impact on businesses, from travel bans to supply and delivery delays to production and forecast adjustments, is already being felt everywhere. As organizations worldwide adjust to this uncertainty, communication professionals need to keep a clear head, stay the course and use the current “down time” productively.
IABC is focused on providing you with access to critical resources related to the COVID-19 coronavirus. This page will serve as a resource center, where you will find helpful articles, webinars and other materials related to this evolving global health crisis.
