December President’s Letter

Kate Hardman, ABC

This month marks the half-way point of our board term, so I want to take a moment to reflect on our accomplishments so far, and to check in with our members to make sure what we’re delivering is meeting your needs.

Since July, we have offered the following events:

  • IABC/San Diego Summer Social
  • From Corporate Communications to Consulting: Making the Transition
  • IABC/San Diego Oktoberfest Brewhaha & Marketing Overview from Stone Brewing
  • Special Interest Group Discussion: Internal Communications
  • Humanizing Your Brand Through H2H Storytelling
  • Mingle Bells Holiday Party

Our goal is to provide communicators with the best resources, education and networking in San Diego, so let us know how we’re doing. Taking this brief survey will help to ensure we’re on the right track and will enable us to tailor our upcoming programs to best address your professional needs.

We have also been working hard to improve our communication by refreshing our newsletter and increasing our social media outreach, as well as finding more ways to celebrate our members through member profiles and speaking engagements. If you’d like to be featured, fill out the online member profile form, or if you’d like the opportunity to showcase your work, apply to be a presenter at one of our professional development events.

Speaking of our talented members, our January 23 or 24 event will be presented by our 2015 Communicator of the Year recipient Marilyn Olson. Marilyn leads the Strategic Programs and Operations for Dell’s Global Communications team, and will be sharing her communication strategy for the company’s acquisition of EMC, the largest technology deal in history. If you haven’t attended our events, this is one you won’t want to miss. Register early to secure your spot!

IABC/San Diego is an organization led by members, for members, and the more you get involved, the more you’ll get back from your membership. I hope you’ll take the opportunity to connect with us over the coming months.

As we close out 2017, I’d like to thank our members and our board members for making IABC/San Diego a chapter I am proud to be part of.

I wish you all a very happy and healthy holiday season.
