When I’m not working, you could find me … hanging out with friends and family, advancing the conversation of women in the workplace, and enjoying a Southern California lifestyle. In all honesty, probably at a new restaurant opening!
Three words that best describe me:
Powerful, classic, bold
My Life in Communications
The biggest communications challenge I’ve faced …
As an internal communicator, being able to tailor a detailed, action-required message to multiple audiences is one of my biggest communications challenges. You want to individually support the end user without overstating the obvious.
My favorite communications memory is …
Leveraging new and bright talent. When one of our summer interns created a winning design for the launch of our new intranet, and built and entire campaign around it. Every time I log in, I am able to see her artwork in use.
The most important communications or professional lesson I’ve learned is …
The value of a good team. When managing multi-layered communications plans, you want to have a strong team around you. A team that lacks ego when editing each other’s work, and yet takes pride in their authorship.
Resources that I really find useful and recommend to other communicators are …
Venngage. PoliteMail. Canva. Use them. Abuse them. Yes, even you can become a graphic designer. Paint, anyone?
The most valuable thing about my membership with IABC is …
The community – you are not alone. Making a story about the cafeteria closing an exciting read or figuring out how to get a manager to read an advance notice are challenges we all face. We are able to share best practices and pick-up a new resource or two!
You should know this about me …
Whether at Trader Joe’s, Target, or an IABC event, you never know who you’re going to run into. I hope that every time we connect, there’s a sense of connection and community. I take pride in my work and want there to be a positive experience when we interact. I also love a good hazelnut gelato – yum!
