About Me

Birthplace: Anaheim, California

Current Residence: Mira Mesa, San Diego, California

IABC Member Since: 2017

Favorite Quote:

“Wisdom comes from experience. Experience is often a result of lack of wisdom.”
-Terry Pratchett

When I’m not working, you could find me … binging on “The Great British Bake Off,” doing crossword puzzles, looking up the best places to eat, or watching the latest superhero movie.

Three words that best describe me:
Adventurous, clever, sarcastic.

My Life in Communications

The biggest communications challenge I’ve faced …
The biggest communications challenge I’ve had so far is dealing with confidential information. It is difficult when leaders do not share enough (or any) information, especially when it can affect other communications projects.

My favorite communications memory is …
Organizing a scavenger hunt for our company’s social media relaunch event.

The most important communications or professional lesson I’ve learned is …
Find the sweet spot when brought in to manage communications for a large project. If you’re brought in too early, you’ll be stuck in planning meetings with nothing to do while they figure out the details. If you’re brought in too late, they might not have left enough lead time for you to handle the communications.

Resources that I really find useful and recommend to other communicators are …
Canva and Venngage are great sites that can help you add visual elements to your communications without needing to be a graphic designer. I also have my AP Stylebook within reach, but honestly, I end up using Google for most of my grammar questions.

The most valuable thing about my membership with IABC is …
Connecting with other communicators in San Diego. Joining the board this year has been a great opportunity to network and learn from other communications professionals.

You should know this about me …
I’m a planner. When my friends and I travel, I love researching activities and restaurants and will have a Google spreadsheet and dozens of tabs open in my browser for months leading up to the trip.
