President Letter – September 2017
September signals the start of the school year. And while I can’t say I wish I was back in high school, seeing students heading off to university makes me a little envious of what’s ahead for them and the time they have to focus on learning.
Juggling life and a full-time job makes it hard continue our educational journey. There’s seemingly no time to spend learning new things when deadlines are looming. But if we want to grow in our careers and remain relevant, it’s so important that we make time.
At IABC, we know that just because school is over, the learning doesn’t have to stop. Our chapter is working hard to make it easy for you to connect with your peers and continue to expand your knowledge.
Our professional development events give you the chance to get insights from communication leaders and network with other members over breakfast, lunch or a cocktail.
Is building your network your highest priority? Our social events enable you to meet other communicators in a relaxed setting. We guarantee you’ll leave with new contacts.
Want to brainstorm with people in your field? Our special interest groups are connecting our members by industry.
There are so many ways IABC/San Diego can support your learning goals, we hope you’ll take advantage of them.
Our upcoming Oktoberfest Brewhaha combines all of the above! You’ll have the opportunity hear about Stone Brewing’s unique approach to marketing while sampling their award-winning beer and networking with fellow communicators. Get your tickets by October 4 to take advantage of early-bird pricing.
As always, please feel free to contact me if you have questions or ideas about any of our programs.
