President’s Letter – January 2019

14 Jan 2019, by Kathleen Park in IABC/SD News

Happy New Year! I hope it’s already off to a great start.

Whether you’re setting new goals for 2019 – or just hoping to keep up with your ever-growing to-do list –  I thought the following quote was particularly inspirational: “What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year.”

To help you bring your best professionally, IABC-SD provides numerous opportunities for strengthening your communications network and learning best practices from local leaders that will help to expand your influence and grow your career.

Some of our recent events included a networking event at AleSmith Brewing Company, an inspirational breakfast featuring Cynthia Curiel, VP of Communications for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, and our informal Special Interest Group meetups for job seekers and internal communications professionals. We also have a couple of professional development events in the works and will communicate the details soon.

Recognition is another value that IABC-SD brings to our local community of business communicators. Do you know a fellow IABC member in the Greater San Diego Area who is a leader in the communication profession? How about a young communication professional who is already doing amazing work? If so, we’d like to hear more. Nominations for our sixth annual Communicator of the Year (COTY) awards are now open. The deadline to submit a nomination is March 1, 2019. Full COTY awards criteria, eligibility and nomination information can be found on the IABC/San Diego website.

And while we’re on the subject of recognition, why not give yourself some credit? It’s not too late to submit your 2019 Gold Quill Award entry. To create your best possible application, be sure to check out this free webinar. The final opportunity to submit your entry is January 29.

Whatever you decide to bring to 2019, tapping into IABC-SD can help you reap countless benefits.

I hope to see you soon!

Robynn Rockstad-Rex
President, IABC/San Diego
