When I hung up my IABC/San Diego President’s hat in 2014, little did I know I’d be back in the role three years later! But, that’s the kind of loyalty and passion for giving back that IABC inspires.
Joining the board eight years ago was one of the best decisions I’ve made, both professionally and personally. Through IABC, I’ve stepped outside my day job, taken advantage of opportunities to expand my skill set and developed my leadership abilities. Not to mention I’ve made life-long friends along the way, from all over the world.
Being on the board of an IABC chapter is a resume builder, it enables you to explore areas like budgeting, event planning, marketing, leadership or community outreach in ways your job might not allow, and it gives you the chance to give back to the communications profession in an incredibly rewarding way.
It’s fun to put on a different hat and challenge yourself with projects outside your daily scope, and it’s so gratifying to work with a great team of professionals who share a common goal of making IABC/San Diego the best resource for its members. It’s what has brought me back to this role and I’m honored to be leading the chapter again. I’m also thrilled to have such a talented and dedicated board by my side (meet them here).
To help kick-off the new board year, I invite you to join us for our Summer Social on August 22. You’ll have the opportunity to meet the incoming board and to network with local communicators, while enjoying drinks and appetizers at the fabulous Fireside Patio in Liberty Station. Get your ticket before August 8 to take advantage of early-bird pricing. It promises to be a great event.
And, if you’re inspired to join our award-winning board, please don’t hesitate to contact me to learn more about our current openings.
I hope to connect with you soon,
Kate Griffin, ABC
President, IABC/San Diego
