Anna Davison, IABC/San Diego PresidentNews and Updates – October 2016

One of the things I value the most about the International Association of Business Communicators is the diversity of functions represented in our organization. IABC members come from a wide variety of communication disciplines, including: corporate communications, employee communications, public relations, marketing, human resources, community relations, writing, editing, social responsibility, investor relations, government relations, leadership coaching, photography/video production and many more.

Our next event is a great example of this diversity. Join us for Inside-Out: How the San Diego Zoo Engages Internal and External Audiences on Friday, October 7, from 8 to 10 a.m. This exclusive breakfast workshop features guest speakers Becky Lynn, Director of Human Resources/Employee Communications, and Jenny Mehlow, Senior Public Relations Representative, from San Diego Zoo Global (SDZG). They will share how communications supports internal and external engagement at the zoo. The deadline for registration is Thursday, October 6 at 5 p.m. PT. Register now and don’t miss this opportunity!

October is also IABC Member Month. This is the best time to renew your membership. Members who renew in October will receive a 10% discount on International dues.

Do you know any local communicators who would benefit from being a part of IABC? Share the IABC experience and encourage them to join during October. You will receive a $10 Amazon gift card when any new member lists you as the referring member! New members not only receive the 10% discount on International dues during October, but IABC will also waive the $40 application fee.

For more information, and a template to easily email membership info to a colleague, visit the IABC Member Month site.

I hope you’ll join us at the October 7 event so I can connect with more of you in person.

Anna Davison
President, IABC/San Diego
