President: Jan McGinn
Independent Consultant / Buyer
With a broad background in marketing, communications, human resources, operations and now purchasing, Jan McGinn understands how to connect a company’s message to its audience. As an independent consultant she works as a personal-shopper for businesses – finding exactly what they need, from supplies to computers. Previously, she chaired the Scripps Ranch Civic Association’s Membership/Fundraising and Community Fair committees. Prior to that, at ICW Group, a San Diego-based insurance carrier, she managed large-scale projects, including launching a new brand, promotional campaigns and events. She also has managed Human Resources, with an emphasis on benefits and internal communications. Jan earned a B.S. in Human Resources from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and has also earned the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designation. An avid community supporter, she volunteers within the Scripps Ranch community. On the weekends, she enjoys camping, cycling and gardening with her husband.
Past President: Robynn Rockstad-Rex
Senior Communications Consultant, Kaiser Permanente
As a member of Kaiser Permanente’s National Communications team, Robynn provides communications consultation, planning and implementation to support the organization’s major change-management initiatives within its Membership Administration division. Previously, she worked on a variety of change management and employee engagement projects at Qualcomm. Robynn moved to San Diego four years ago after a decade in Paris, France, where she most recently had served as the Director of Communications and Programs for the International Brain Research Organization, a global alliance that promotes diversity and cross-regional collaboration to accelerate the progress of scientific research. Robynn graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, with a B.A. in Communications, and she earned a Certificate in Integrated Marketing Communications from the University of Washington. VP, Communications: Jayanti Menches
A dynamic communications leader and strategic business partner, Jayanti Menches has built a career in marketing communications, employee engagement, media relations, crisis communications, branding, advertising, corporate social responsibility and reputation management. Jayanti relocated home to San Diego a few months ago and is currently searching for a new opportunity in the area. Most recently Jayanti was the head of communications for WSP USA, a global engineering and professional services firm based in New York City. She established an integrated communications team and directed marketing communications, media relations and employee engagement for a firm of 7000 plus employees in 100 locations across the U.S. Jayanti also worked as the director of marketing at Triple Canopy, a global security and risk management company headquartered in the Washington DC metro area. Prior to joining the firm, Menches lived and worked in Hong Kong managing multiple projects as a communications consultant. Before moving overseas, she worked in Northern Virginia as marketing communications manager for Teleglobe, a global telecommunications company. She also managed communications at defense contractor TRW, acquired by Northrop Grumman. Jayanti earned a master’s degree from San Diego State University and has a bachelor’s from the American University in Cairo, Egypt.
VP, Finance: Anna Davison
Associate Vice President, Corporate Communications, AMN Healthcare
Anna Davison is Associate Vice President of Corporate Communications for AMN Healthcare, the nation’s largest healthcare staffing and workforce solutions company. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing client communications, public and media relations, and employee communications. Anna’s experience includes extensive work and expertise in strategic communication planning, public relations, media campaigns, brand messaging, executive consulting, crisis communications, social media, and intranet management. VP, PR & Marketing: Kacy Vega
Director of Internal Communications for UC San Diego Library
Kacy Vega has worked mostly in higher education or local government environments. Throughout her career, she has gained key communicator skills working in areas such as internal communications, family literacy, international education, and college student advising. She is very interested in the field of communications, such as: science communication, intercultural communication, and digital media and marketing trends. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring the San Diego cost, hiking, running, paddle boarding, kayaking, reading, or searching for whales and dolphins.
VP, Programming & Events: Xóchitl de la Cerda
Xóchitl is a knowledgeable Marketing and Event Management expert and strategist with extensive professional experience that includes strategic planning, event management, project/program management, marketing operations, brand development/management, and relationship building/cultivation. As the Marketing & Events Director for THE LOT, she helped generate $3M+ in additional revenues for the company by the successful execution of events. She designed and executed a wide variety of events, many benefiting non-profit organizations, and provided leadership and strategic oversight for all branding, creative direction, partnership development, integrated marketing, communications, and PR strategies for the company, ensuring strong and consistent messaging and brand positioning. Xóchitl has recently started her own consulting company focused on digital marketing and design. Her specialty is building brand stories and unique experiences from the ground up, weaving creativity, design, analytics, forward-thinking marketing strategy and event planning into the projects and events she manages. Prior to working at THE LOT, she worked for DoubleTree by Hilton and Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas. She graduated from San Diego State University and has an MBA with an emphasis in Marketing.
Director, Recognition, Liz Neely
Senior Employee Communications Specialist, Qualcomm
Liz Neely is a Senior Employee Communications Specialist at Qualcomm, where her responsibilities include writing articles, editing copy and managing the editorial calendar for the company’s internal daily news site, as well as providing communications support to various enterprise and business initiatives. Prior to joining Qualcomm in 2012, Liz worked as an investigator for firms specializing in complex civil litigation, including securities fraud, antitrust and consumer fraud class actions. Liz’s background is primarily in journalism, and she spent more than a decade as a reporter writing stories for online and print publications including The San Diego Union Tribune, The Ventura County Star and an electronics industry trade publication based in Silicon Valley. She holds a BA in Journalism and History from Humboldt State University. She also attended the University of Minnesota and has a professional certificate in digital and social media from SDSU’s College of Extended Studies. Online Marketing Specialist, JC Resorts
Chantal is currently working for JC Resorts on supporting online marketing initiatives and web updates, planning and managing social media campaigns, managing JC Resorts’ online reputation listings, and creating and launching brand email campaigns. Prior to working at JC Resorts, Chantal was a PR Specialist at Crowdfund Mafia, where her responsibilities included crafting media lists, monitoring PR activity and facilitating media relations. In her time at Crowdfund Mafia, she also helped with campaign management where she oversaw different aspects of project management including PR, web design, client relations, and online marketing. Previously, she served as a Public Relations Associate at Fidelitas Development where she helped plan and execute marketing strategies, social media outreach, and content development. Corporate Communications Manager, Prometheus Laboratories
Katie Knott is Manager of Corporate Communications at Prometheus Laboratories, a Nestlé Health Science Company. In this role, she is responsible for developing and executing corporate communications strategy to advance the Prometheus brand promise and reputation to internal and external stakeholders. Prior to joining Prometheus, Katie served as the Internal Communications Specialist at Hologic, a leading global healthcare and diagnostics company, where she was responsible for driving internal global corporate communications strategy designed to enhance employee engagement across locations. Katie also served as Senior Corporate Communications Specialist at AMN Healthcare where she was responsible for executing strategic internal and external communications initiatives designed to enhance thought leadership and positive brand recognition. She began her career in New York City with a variety of roles in public relations and corporate communications. Dave Flynn is a corporate communications manager with Scripps Health. Among his various duties, Dave provides support and oversight for the company’s print and e-publications to its 15,000 employees. Additionally, he is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communications around the organization’s strategic objectives. Prior to his tenure with Scripps, Dave worked in television as a writer, producer and on-air broadcaster. He earned a B.A. in Communication Design from Chico State University. - The Vice President of Administration serves as the chapter’s secretary and general record keeper
- Prepares monthly board meeting agendas, and takes and distributes monthly board meeting minutes
- Assists the President in maintaining the board roster and IABC/San Diego Board User Manual
- Works with VPs to create procedure documentation for each role
- Maintains chapter repository for all files and digital assets
- Maintains all chapter papers, records, and archives, including the chapter bylaws, as needed
Director, Communications (Web Content)
- The Director of Communications supports the VP of Communications, with primary responsibility for maintaining the chapter website at www.sandiego.iabc.com
- Posts and updates content
- Contributes content recommendations
- Tracks performance of site; analyzes site behavior and provides site optimization recommendations using Google Analytics data
- Assists other board members/volunteers in developing strategy for using the site to promote chapter events and provide member benefits
- The Director, Membership supports the VP of Membership on activities including member promotions, and recruitment and retention programs.
- Maintains membership lists in Constant Contact for member and non-member messaging.
- Supports initiatives to welcome new members.
- Assists in development of membership promotions.
- Assists in development of membership marketing materials.
- The Director of Brand oversees the artistic design of all marketing collateral.
- Reports to the VP of Communications, and works closely with VP of Marketing & Social Media to ensure brand materials are consistent and visually appealing across all communications.
- Creates and develops promotional material for IABC events and promotions across all channels, including web, social, email and print.
- Creates custom graphic elements.
