February 2013 President’s Letter – Why You Should Be a Part of IABC/San Diego

18 Feb 2013, by IABC Webmaster in Be Heard Blog, IABC/SD News

Angie_RobertThis month IABC/San Diego’s editorial calendar dictated that our communication was focused around the theme of storytelling.  To tell you the truth, that one stumped me.

Until now.

On 6:02 p.m. on February 1, a text came in from our VP of Finance Jan McGinn and our president elect Kate Hardman telling me we just won MID-SIZED CHAPTER OF THE YEAR at IABC’s annual Leadership Institute Chapter Management Awards.

In addition to that tremendous accolade, we won awards of merit in leadership development and communication, and an award of excellence in finance.  Incredible.

This recognition is a testament to the past year and current year boards’ dedication to achieving goals set early on in annual planning sessions.  Each year we take a critical look at where we’ve been, where we are and what we want to become.  The end goals are totally driven by enhancing service offerings to members and driving deeper engagement with you.

We are taking many steps as a board to ensure you get the most value for your membership, continue with our chapter and tell your colleagues why they should be a part of IABC/San Diego.

This spring we have many new types of events, like speed networking, student mentorship opportunities and members-only mixers, on the calendar.  We have listened to your feedback and are scheduling events in centrally located, exciting venues and at more convenient times of day.

I am honored to work with such a talented board of directors and to serve as the president of IABC/San Diego this year.  Please reach out to me any time with feedback or to share your thoughts and ideas as to how we can better serve you.

Many thanks,

Angie Robert, President
IABC San Diego
