Learning from Leaders

Serving on the board of an IABC chapter is exceptionally rewarding – not only does it help your professional development and build leadership skills, but you also meet a great network of talented, dedicated individuals.

At Leadership Institute – IABC’s conference for board members – your network, and the brain trust you’re part of, becomes that much bigger.

Leaders from across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Africa and beyond come together with one goal – how can we make IABC better for our members.

It’s an energizing two days where the commitment and passion people have for this organization come across loud and clear. Through break-outs and general sessions, we collaborate, share ideas and celebrate successes.

After this year’s event, held Feb. 7-9 in Scottsdale, AZ, my head is brimming with ideas for how to keep raising the bar. This year we were thrilled to win IABC mid-sized chapter of the year – so we’re already getting a few things right! But there’s more to do and you have a great team working to make it happen.

We have some exciting developments to engage with students, contribute to your professional development and help you realize the value of your membership.

As president-elect, I am honored to be taking the reins of this outstanding chapter, and I’m looking forward to seeing many of our great ideas and hard work coming to fruition. To make sure we’re on the right track, we also want your feedback about what’s working, what’s not working, and what you’re looking to get from your membership.

Beyond that, we’re always looking for volunteers who want to give back to our communications community. Our new board term starts in July. So if you’re interested in getting involved, I encourage you to drop me a line. Being part of this incredible group of leaders is an experience that will last a lifetime.
