My Life in Communications
The biggest communications challenge I’ve faced …
Saying “no.” I want to please everyone! I have come to realize that doing a few things well is much better than trying to do more than what is possible.
My favorite communications memory is …
When I was working as an account executive at a PR firm and oversaw the UTC website launch, I had to manage an unforeseen circumstance. I spent a lot of time securing media coverage for the launch and then a tank decided to drive against traffic on the 163 crushing medians along the way! I learned very quickly how to turn lemons into lemonade!
The most important communications or professional lesson I’ve learned is …
Learning how to trust my gut. I have great instincts and I have had to resist taking the “safe” route. Sometimes trusting your inner voice and taking a risk can really pay off.
Resources that I really find useful and recommend to other communicators are …
I have a go-to group of people that really know their stuff. When I need someone to weigh in on something important I know who to go to.
What have you found most valuable about your IABC membership?
I have only been able to attend one event so far. What I enjoyed about the event was listening to new communicators share their point of view.
You should know this about me …
I am a very passionate person with a strong opinion. I love sharing my thoughts and ideas with others.
