President’s Letter – October 2014

22 Oct 2014, by Kylie Munoz in Be Heard Blog, IABC/SD News

With Halloween right around the corner, it’s now the season of tricks and treats. I don’t have many tricks up my sleeve, but we do have a few treats we’ve been working on.MelissaEckmann_400_226

First, it’s International Membership Month! If you’ve been thinking about joining or re-joining IABC, October is a great time to do it. For the remainder of the month, IABC will waive your $40 application fee. Take advantage of membership discounts to professional development events, exclusive member networking opportunities, educational resources, and more.

We have another free member event coming on November 6 – our Internal Communicators Special Interest Group meeting. Grab a coffee and enjoy a chat with fellow internal communicators to discuss best practices, common challenges, and shared experiences. Non-members are welcome to attend too for $5.

On November 19, we have another professional development event, sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union. Mark Kretschmar, IABC/Minnesota’s President Elect, will speak about how to have effective conversations that create action. Join us for an interesting session, networking, and lunch at UCSD Extension.

And finally, I ask that you help me welcome two new members to our board: Kevin Dinino and Paul Brencick. We’re thrilled to have two more experienced communicators to help serve our members. If you’re interested in volunteer opportunities with IABC/San Diego, please let me know! We have opportunities for both members and non-members.

Happy Halloween!

President, IABC/San Diego
