Communications Specialist

(August 2019) The Communications Department is looking for an experienced professional with demonstrated executive-level writing skills in either a Senior Communications Specialist or Communications Specialist II role, depending on qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate will develop speeches and presentations for Authority executives, develop website content, partner with the Director, Communications to develop a strategic communications plan and;

  1. Produce internal and external communications, messages, speeches, correspondence, and reports for executives and the CEO; and develop materials and content that aligns with Authority’s established voice and values.
  1. Design, implement and lead communication objectives, strategies, standards and projects in alignment with organizational vision, initiatives and performance measures; identify and integrate strategies and brand identity.
  1. Cultivate and maintain partnership and collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, community, organizations and influencers; participate and represent the organization as needed; maintain current with organizational initiatives, current affairs and connects with stakeholders on these issues.
  1. Manage internal editorial and review process for all written content, including executive speeches, press releases, articles and media announcements, website content and social media messaging.

Community Relations Specialist
San Diego International Airport 

(August 2019) The External Relations Department is looking for an experienced professional with demonstrated community relations and relationship management skills in a Community Relations Specialist role. The ideal candidate will serve as a liaison between the community and the Authority, establish and maintain strong community partnerships and;

  1. Represent the Authority at a wide variety of community and public interaction forums; plan, develop and coordinate educational and engagement sessions; establish and maintain relationships between the Authority and external agencies and community organizations.
  2. As assigned, write speeches, press releases, articles and social media posts on behalf of the Authority; prepare presentations; attend public speaking engagements and interact with the media as needed; provide input for communication strategy and community outreach programs.
  3. Serve as a liaison between the Authority and the community; assess community values, issues and concerns to elevate as appropriate throughout the organization; remain up to date on current community, local and governmental issues.

VP, Corporate Communications

(August 2019) The Vice President of Corporate Communications position is a full-time employment opportunity which will include internal communications, public and media relations, corporate social media, and external communications. This individual reports to the EVP, Chief External Affairs Officer and directs and implements advanced internal and external communication strategies that support the business objectives of Zovio and any existing subsidiaries. The VP of Corporate Communications contributes to Zovio’s organizational strategic planning process, creates a strategy for employee communications, directs the creation of detailed communications plans to support company initiatives, and provide strategic direction for the employee intranet. They are responsible for leading the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of public relations activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization, including management of Zovio’s social media channels. This individual will act as a strategic communications advisor to the company’s executive leaders, be an ambassador for the organization, as well as build strong relationships with the media.
