Special Interest Groups
That’s why IABC is kicking off a new member benefit this year – Special Interest Groups. We want to provide an opportunity for our members with similar interests or skill sets to network, obtain knowledge and share ideas and resources. With your crazy schedules, this gives you another chance to get engaged with other IABC members that have valuable experience and insight!
We have two Special Interest Groups (SIGs) at this time, which offer free meetups for our members:
One is for internal communicators, and is open to IABC/San Diego members who deal with the ins and outs of leading change and communicating business strategies while gaining internal support. It’s those communicators that provide valuable leadership in creating communications that inspire productivity, affect organization change, build corporate reputation and help employees navigate a crisis. Join the Internal Communicators SIG to enhance your organizational communication skills by asking questions, sharing case studies and best practices, and discussing challenges and solutions – all while building your network with a community of San Diego’s professional communicators. Join the IABC/San Diego Internal Communicators group on LinkedIn to start connecting and to find out about upcoming meetups.
Our other SIG is for independent communicators, and is a forum for self-employed communicators to share ideas about managing and marketing their business. The group invites participation from local communications consultants, writers, editors, graphic artists, website developers and other business communicators. Members can share resources, viewpoints and work assignments while networking with fellow independent communicators from across San Diego. Join the IABC San Diego Independents group on LinkedIn to start connecting and to find out about upcoming meetups.
If there’s a topic you would like to connect with other members on, please contact our Director of Special Interest Groups: Liz Neely.
