Small Groups = Big Connections

27 Sep 2012, by IABC Webmaster in Be Heard Blog, IABC/SD News

Tonight I had the pleasure of dining at one of San Diego’s finest new restaurants with some of San Diego’s finest marketers and communicators.  As part of our semi-annual Dine Arounds, Katie Sweeny (former VP of administration), Despina Papadatos (director of member promotion), Heidi Leonard and Brett Doucette (co-directors of student outreach), and I enjoyed a fabulous meal at Vintana Wine + Dine accompanied by fun conversation.

Not only did we talk about the professional benefits of our IABC membership, but we discussed professional challenges, exchanged job opportunities, shared resources, found alliances and laughed a lot.  I think it is fair to say that in addition to exchanging tips on local dry cleaners, dentists and promo item vendors, we made some new friends.

These relationships are rarely made in large settings, thus making networking opportunities with small groups invaluable.  I hope the opportunity to connect with you in a small group setting presents itself in the upcoming year.  I welcome your ideas on ways to connect with you to make your IABC experience more valuable.  Please connect with me any time.
