A Note From IABC/SD’s President

Last month, fellow IABC member Mark Kretschmar spoke at our professional development event about “Conversations for Action.” It was interesting to think about how although we’re all professional communicators, our daily conversations may not be effective. We advise our organizations and executives daily on their messaging, but that doesn’t mean we’re always being clear and assertive about what we want. He advised us to consider whether what we want is the same as what we’ve asked for. And if it’s not, how do we expect to get what we need? I’ll definitely take some of his tips and tools back into my daily conversations. Read more.

KCD PR “Best in Show” in the Pacific Plains Region Silver Quill Awards

IABC/San Diego Corporate Member KCD PR was recently honored as “Best in Show” in the Pacific Plains Region Silver Quill Awards, meaning their entry received the highest score out of all 57 entries from across the region. Congratulations to the KCD PR team, led by IABC/San Diego Board Member Kevin Dinino, for their outstanding work. Thanks for representing our chapter well! Meet Jason Johnston

Former Communications Manager for The UPS Store Inc., Jason Johnston is the Director Of Public Affairs for Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. Additionally, Jason also serves on IABC/San Diego’s board as Vice President of Membership. He has been a member of IABC since 2006 and relishes the networking in IABC. Further, he thinks having a resource that you can reach out to if you need a service, an answer, or a friend, is invaluable with his membership with IABC/San Diego. Outside of work, you can find Jason golfing, running, hiking, reading or watching sports. Read more.
