Associate VP and Chief Communications Officer, San Diego State University
La Monica Everett-Haynes is the Associate Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for Strategic Communications and Public Affairs, housed in SDSU's Office of the President. She holds nearly 25 years of combined experience as a journalist, communications professional and higher education researcher and scholar. At SDSU, she leads a creative team of professionals responsible for serving as the voice of SDSU and responsible for storytelling, marketing, media coordination, issues management and crisis communications, social media, video and photography, web communications and also government and community relations. La Monica is an Episcopal Community Services board member as well as an IABC member and IABC San Diego's Communicator of the Year (2022). Everett-Haynes earned her B.A. in journalism in 2001 and both her M.A. and Ph.D. in higher education, in 2010 and 2016 respectively — all from the University of Arizona.
